Designed to be a symbol of unity for the city of San Marcos, the River Mural Mosaic was recently restored by the Leadership San Marcos Class of 2012 along the river bank at city park.
Uniting with original project artists, schools, nonprofits and members of the community, the mural will have the theme of unity, calling attention to the river's power of drawing people of all times and cultures together for its nourishing, playful, and peaceful resources.
Students from Sabina Reynold's Katherine Ann Porter High School art classes in collaboration with Jessica Botello's San Marcos High School art classes designed the panels. Participants from various schools as well as other youth divisions in the San Marcos community contributed to the artwork, leaving their ideas of unity forever marked on the wall.
The class of 2012, a very eclectic class itself, saw the project as a way of bringing all members of the community together, tying together past and present and future.
